Lindsay Sisk looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sophia Roche was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September. Isabella Burkhead was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Jackson County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Glynn Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since August 28th.
Adalyn Mitchell tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 4.1 innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Miabella Lee, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Jackson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive contests.
The win got Lanier back to even at 13-13. As for Jackson County, their record now sits at 17-5.
Lanier's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. The Longhorns have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Jackson County, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Lanier continue to outrun the ball?
Lanier suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Jackson County when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Can the Longhorns avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
