The Oroville Tigers were the 38-37 winner over the Hamilton Braves when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Oroville received a tough blow on Wednesday as they fell 46-28 to Hamilton. While losing is never fun, Oroville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while Hamilton is ranked 427th).
Oroville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Leila Jackson, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals. Jackson scored a full 32.1% of Oroville's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ayianna Herrera, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Oroville and nudges their season record down to 3-11. As for Hamilton, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
Oroville will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Weed at 7:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Hamilton will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Quincy at 4:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Quincy: 27.7, Hamilton: 29.9) so any points scored will be well earned.
