James Giefer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Strathmore got a big performance out of Dre Mikles, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Gonzalo Orozco, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Strathmore's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Kern Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kern Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Strathmore struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kern Valley got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2024 against Strathmore by a conclusive 18-3 score. Will the Broncs repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
