After flying high against the Litchfield Purple Panthers last Tuesday, the Carrollton Hawks came back down to earth. Carrollton took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carlinville. The match was a 22-22 toss-up at halftime, but Carrollton was outscored by Carlinville in the second.
Despite the loss, Carrollton still got an impressive performance from Lauren Flowers, who scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds. The match was Flowers' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Harper Darr was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Carrollton's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Carlinville, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carrollton will take on Pittsfield-Griggsville-Perry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pittsfield-Griggsville-Perry's defense has only allowed 29.7 points per game this season, so Carrollton's offense will have their work cut out for Carrollton. As for Carlinville, they will play host again and welcome Vandalia, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Vandalia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 455th, while Carlinville is ranked 161st).
