Video: Looking back at top draft picksRewinding on the high school careers of Baker Mayfield, Calvin Ridley and others.
Over the last dozen years, Florida is king of NFL first-round selections.
The Sunshine State actually didn't have a single first-rounder in the 2017 draft, but came back strong in 2018 with six — all after the 16th pick — to increase its overall total to 55 since 2006.
Texas has claimed the last two overall No. 1 selections — quarterback Baker Mayfield
of Lake Travis (Austin)
this year and defensive end Myles Garrett
of Martin (Arlington)
in 2017 — and is second with 47 first-round picks. The Lone Star State has six in the past two drafts.
With nine first-round picks, California has been the most active over the last two years. It is third with 39 first-round picks since 2006.
Rounding out the top 10 are Georgia (28), Alabama (21), Ohio (20), New Jersey (19), Virginia (16), Pennsylvania (14) and the Carolinas — North and South — each with 13.
