The Fillmore Central Panthers and the St. Cecilia Bluehawks will face off on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fillmore Central will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Fillmore Central scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They came out on top against Wilber-Clatonia by a score of 64-54. Given Fillmore Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Wilber-Clatonia is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carson Asche and Daniel Stoner were among the main playmakers for Fillmore Central as the former scored 17 points and the latter scored 20 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Stoner has scored at least 25% of Fillmore Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Cooper, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought match, but St. Cecilia had to settle for a 54-51 defeat against Elkhorn North on Saturday.
Fillmore Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for St. Cecilia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Fillmore Central was able to grind out a solid win over St. Cecilia in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, winning 53-45. Will Fillmore Central repeat their success, or does St. Cecilia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
