It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Trinity Christian Eagles ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 58-51 win over Community Christian. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Trinity Christian as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josiah Marquez, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. Marquez hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Blackburn, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds.
Trinity Christian's victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-13. As for Community Christian, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian will take on Pantego Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pantego Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.5 points per game. Community Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Amarillo Collegiate Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Amarillo Collegiate Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1608th, while Community Christian is ranked 573rd).
