The Veterans Warhawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Northside Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Veterans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Northside's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Veterans blew West Laurens out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday West Laurens got their revenge. The Warhawks fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 9-7. The Warhawks' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Meanwhile, Northside got the win against Starr's Mill on Tuesday by a conclusive 9-3. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.
Wetherly Ridley was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in August of 2024.
In other batting news, Sidne Malone was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September. Kassidy Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
Northside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Northside is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That lines up perfectly with their 20-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Veterans, their loss dropped their record down to 21-5.
Veterans skirted past Northside 8-7 when the teams last played back in August. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
