It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Healdsburg had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They never let the Arroyo Dons get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.
The result came thanks to Alex Mauro-Manos's shutout, as he gave up just four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Carter Cyphers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John Wallace, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Healdsburg's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Arroyo, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-10.
As of now, neither Healdsburg nor the Dons have any future games scheduled.
