Diboll is 10-0 against Pineywoods Community Academy since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Diboll Lumberjacks' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Pineywoods Community Academy Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Diboll focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Even though Hemphill scored an imposing 63 points, Diboll still came out on top. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Diboll made off with a 64-63 victory over Hemphill.
It was another big night for Jadarian Kennerew, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 19 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrece Mcmillan, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Pineywoods Community Academy came up short against Pollok Central on Friday and fell 45-35. While losing is never fun, Pineywoods Community Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1080th, while Pollok Central is ranked 432nd).
Diboll's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Pineywoods Community Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Everything came up roses for Diboll against Pineywoods Community Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 73-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Diboll since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
