The Pine-Richland Rams fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Hempfield Area 59-23 at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Pine-Richland has managed all season.
Madison Zavasky was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 32 points and 22 rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Pine-Richland's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Catherine Gentile, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Pine-Richland's win bumped their record up to 2-6. As for Hempfield Area, they bumped their record down to 7-3 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Pine-Richland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. North Allegheny presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pine-Richland in Pennsylvania (North Allegheny is ranked 17th, while Pine-Richland is ranked 340th). Hempfield Area won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Seneca Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. Seneca Valley will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
