On Wednesday, the Mercersburg Academy Blue Storm faced the Hill School Rams in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mercersburg Academy was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Rams. It was the first time this season that Mercersburg Academy let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Mercersburg Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Nia Henley. Despite the final result, she scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Goodhart, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds.
Hill School got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lily Soller out in front who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sammie Faella, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds.
Mercersburg Academy's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-6. As for Hill School, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-12 record this season.
Mercersburg Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Hun focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Saturday. As for Hill School, they will be playing at home against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Germantown Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
