This season hasn't been kind to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Comets, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They lost to Providence on the road by a decisive 54-40 margin on Saturday. Sacred Heart of Jesus lost against Providence in their previous head to head back in April of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 43-21 score last time.
Sacred Heart of Jesus' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Michelle Canete, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds. Canete scored a full 35% of Sacred Heart of Jesus' points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Xitlali Botts, who scored 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
Sacred Heart of Jesus' defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Providence, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sacred Heart of Jesus will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against St. Genevieve at 7:00 p.m. on November 28th. As for Providence, they will challenge E at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. E comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
