Basketball Recap: Gregori Piles Up the Points Against Pitman

A well-balanced attack led Gregori over Pitman in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Gregori Jaguars blew the Pitman Pride out of the water with a 61-23 final score. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Veronica Whitten was a one-woman wrecking crew for Gregori as she dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten steals. Whitten has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Morris, who posted eight points.

Gregori was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pitman only posted three assists.

When it comes to explaining why Pitman lost, don't look at Miley Zamora. Despite the final result, she scored six points.

Gregori has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for Pitman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gregori will square off against Turlock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gregori has five straight victories, Turlock has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court. Pitman has already played their next game (against Downey), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
