Orthopaedic has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Central City Value Jaguars at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Wednesday, Orthopaedic was able to grind out a solid win over Aspire Ollin, taking the game 36-29. 36 seems to be a good number for Orthopaedic as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Orthopaedic can attribute much of their success to Melanie Hernandez, who scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hernandez has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Central City Value entered their tilt with Animo Bunche with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Central City Value blew past Animo Bunche 38-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Central City Value has posted against Animo Bunche since January 22, 2020.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central City Value to victory, but perhaps none more so than Natasha Garcia, who scored 14 points along with six steals and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Amy Lazaro, who scored four points along with 13 steals and six assists.
Orthopaedic is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season. As for Central City Value, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7.
Orthopaedic didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Central City Value in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 20-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Orthopaedic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
