Lakewood is 10-0 against the Panthers since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Lakewood Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Jordan Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Lakewood is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Panthers in California (the Lancers are ranked 85th, while the Panthers are ranked 207th).
Lakewood has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 40-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of California on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakewood has scored all season.
Lakewood might have lost, but man, Cristina Jones was a machine: she almost dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and nine steals. Jones is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.
Meanwhile, Jordan put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Woodrow Wilson 67-30 at home. The victory was just what Jordan needed coming off of a 54-32 loss in their prior matchup.
Lakewood's defeat dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Jordan, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Lakewood skirted past the Panthers 46-44 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lakewood since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
