Homestead is 0-8-2 against Mountain View since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Homestead Mustangs will head out on the road to take on the Mountain View Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Homestead had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Palo Alto out 2-1.
Homestead was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Annika Wickham and
Reagan Hall, who scored both of Homestead's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 11 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Mountain View can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Palo Alto as Mountain View made off with a 4-1 victory. With Mountain View ahead 3-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Homestead pushed their record up to 11-4-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matches. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3-4 record this season.
Homestead might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Mountain View in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Homestead avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
