Basketball Recap: Marion Center Beats Portage for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Marion Center put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victor by a 61-35 margin over the Portage Mustangs. The Stingers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Liana Bagby, who posted seven points. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Noll, who put up seven points.

Marion Center's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Portage, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marion Center will face off against West Shamokin at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Marion Center's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so West Shamokin's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Portage, they will square off against Conemaugh Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Portage is facing Conemaugh Valley at the right time seeing as Conemaugh Valley is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
