The Conant Cougars will square off against the Niles West Wolves at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Conant got the win against Hoffman Estates by a conclusive 15-4. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Joseph Garza made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Conant got a massive performance out of Andrew Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Miller has posted since back in March. Arjun Patel was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and three RBI.
Meanwhile, Niles West came into Thursday's game having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with an 11-8 victory over Maine West on Thursday. The Wolves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Niles West let Chase Kolbe and Russ Shattuck run wild. Kolbe went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Shattuck went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Connor Vietti, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Niles West's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 2-13. As for Conant, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6-1.
