Football Recap: Manzano Piles Up the Points Against Rio Grande

While Manzano put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Rio Grande. The Monarchs blew past the Ravens 35-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Monarchs just coasted through the last quarter.

Manzano found their leader in sophomore Nehemiah Morris, who rushed for 75 yards and one score on only seven carries. Broden Price made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Manzano didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Price and Vince Varela. Price got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win got Manzano back to even at 1-1. As for Rio Grande, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Manzano will welcome Del Norte at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rio Grande, they will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Atrisco Heritage Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
