Baseball Recap: Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School Takes a Loss

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School dropped their record down to 7-7 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the San Jacinto Valley Academy Wolves, falling 25-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-9 back in March.

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sean Bender, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one double. The Mustangs are 3-1 when Bender posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Another was Brandon Vera, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

As for San Jacinto Valley Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On San Jacinto Valley Academy's side, Sebastian Lopez looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Lopez has posted since back in March.

On the hitting side, Canon Fletcher was a standout: he got on base in all six of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, five runs, and five RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayce Paine, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with seven RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School is set to face off against their familiar foe Temecula Prep at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, San Jacinto Valley Academy will take on rival Nuview Bridge at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
