Poly got a great performance from Danny Bedford as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Bedford has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Poly let Lucas Burton and Mayan De Nava run wild. Burton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while De Nava went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs De Nava has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Adrian Islas, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Poly pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.75 runs across that stretch. As for Hueneme, their loss ended a ten-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-9.
Looking ahead, Poly will head out to face off against Long Beach Poly at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Jackrabbits' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Hueneme does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
