Westminster has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Westminster scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 47-33 victory over Garden Grove. That 14 points margin sets a new team best for Westminster this season.
Meanwhile, Godinez Fundamental entered their tilt with Ocean View with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Godinez Fundamental made off with a 36-35 win over Ocean View. Given Godinez Fundamental's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 410th, while Ocean View is ranked 1001st), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Godinez Fundamental found their leader in underclassman Julissa Mota, who scored ten points along with four steals. Mota hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Esteban, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Westminster's victory bumped their record up to 4-16. As for Godinez Fundamental, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Westminster suffered a grim 49-29 defeat to Godinez Fundamental when the teams last played on January 9th. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mota, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
