After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Red Bluff, Lassen was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 57-23 win over the Enterprise Hornets. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-15.
Lassen had a senior duo take command as Dowan Stephens rushed for 118 yards and four touchdowns and Terrin Hanson rushed for 73 yards and a pair of scores. Hanson didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made four total tackles.
Lassen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 333 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Enterprise only rushed for 121 rushing yards.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Lassen, adding 13 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Hanson, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Enterprise still got an impressive performance from Izaiah Mikell, who threw for 205 yards and three TDs while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 32 yards. A healthy portion of Mikell's aerial production (84 yards to be exact) went to Sebastian Gaddy, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Lassen now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Enterprise, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lassen will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Foothill at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th. As for Enterprise, they will venture away from home to square off against Fairfield at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
