Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post 16 more assists than your opponent, a fact the Crossroads Roadrunners proved on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-38 win over Beverly Hills. Given Crossroads' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Beverly Hills is ranked 421st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crossroads' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lulu Chahinian, who scored 16 points along with 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Chahinian has scored at least 25% of Crossroads' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgia Koff-Gilmore, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
When it comes to explaining why Beverly Hills lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mandy Kohanim. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 21 points and 10 rebounds. Kohanim scored a full 55.3% of Beverly Hills' points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Crossroads has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Beverly Hills, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Crossroads will head out on the road to face off against Trinity Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Trinity Classical Academy's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Crossroads' offense will have their work cut out for Crossroads. Beverly Hills is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Royal at 8:30 p.m. on December 5th.
