It's playoff time, and Windward had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Fairmont Prep Huskies on Saturday as the Windward Wildcats made off with a 79-55 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Fairmont Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maria Mejia, who shot 54% from the field on her way to 18 points along with six assists and six boards. Mejia continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Aldeguer, who posted 14 points and seven rebounds.
Windward has been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.4 points over those games. Fairmont Prep moved to 23-11 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
