El Cerrito has gone a perfect 6-0 against Salesian College Preparatory recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Gauchos will be playing at home against the Pride at 4:00 p.m. The timing is sure in El Cerrito's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while Salesian College Preparatory has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
On Tuesday, El Cerrito came up short against Benicia and fell 4-1.
Jackson Beebout was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February.
On the hitting side, El Cerrito saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Talio Ubalde, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Salesian College Preparatory scored first but ultimately less than Skyline in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 5-4.
Evan Vela put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Vela was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Salvador Guerra made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Salesian College Preparatory's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for El Cerrito, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-5.
Salesian College Preparatory's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. El Cerrito has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Salesian College Preparatory, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will El Cerrito keep running through batters, or will the Pride buck the trend?
