Even though the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes scored an imposing 55 points on Wednesday, the Fort Chiswell Pioneers still came out on top. Fort Chiswell took their match against the Scarlet Hurricanes 67-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Fort Chiswell.
Leading Fort Chiswell to victory were Blair Jackson and Kara King. Jackson scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while King dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten steals. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 19 or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Shrewsbury, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Fort Chiswell has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fort Chiswell will take on the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chilhowie will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 346th, while the Pioneers are ranked 107th). As for Marion, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the G-Men at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
