Elkhorn South and Marian are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2017, but likely not for long. The Storm will be taking part in a tournament against the Crusaders at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Elkhorn South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Elkhorn South's tournament run continued when they took on Bellevue West on Friday. The Storm came out on top against the Thunderbirds by a score of 8-3.

Ollie Songster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lauren Schneider, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Delaney Shield, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs.
Elkhorn South hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Marian can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over Westview.
Brooklyn Kincaid and Keely Robbins did most of the damage at the plate: Kincaid went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Robbins went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, Robbins posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. Millie Sutko was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one double.
Marian's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Elkhorn South, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elkhorn South hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .424. However, it's not like Marian struggles in that department as they've averaged .342. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elkhorn South was able to grind out a solid win over Marian in their previous meeting back in August, winning 8-5. Will the Storm repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
