Basketball Game Preview: Tehachapi Warriors vs. South Spartans

Tehachapi is 8-0 against South since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Tehachapi Warriors will host the South Spartans at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Tehachapi's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while South has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Tehachapi is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Golden Valley: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Tehachapi blew Golden Valley out of the water with a 70-16 final score. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Koree Rodden continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7 of 10 en route to 14 points and seven boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jamie Neaderbaomer, who posted 16 points.

Tehachapi smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, South and North faced off in a cross-town battle on Wednesday. South came up short against North, falling 41-21. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1118th, while the Stars are ranked 514th).

Tehachapi has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for South, their loss dropped their record down to 4-17.

Everything came up roses for Tehachapi against South when the teams last played two weeks ago, as the team secured a 53-25 win. Does Tehachapi have another victory up their sleeve, or will South turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
