Basketball Game Preview: George Washington Prep Generals vs. Legacy Tigers

The George Washington Prep Generals and the Legacy Tigers will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday without much rest having both just played. George Washington Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.

George Washington Prep will head out to face Legacy after giving up their first home loss of the season on Wednesday. George Washington Prep fell 60-52 to King/Drew.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jaleyah Lucien, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. Jay'La Ray was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 19 rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Legacy). They breezed by South Gate to the tune of 91-15 on Wednesday. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Legacy's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points per game. As for George Washington Prep, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-3.

George Washington Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Legacy in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win.
