Audenried is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Sayre is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Audenried will take on the Sayre Sabres at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Audenried stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They put the hurt on Masterman with a sharp 67-47 victory. Given Audenried's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Masterman is ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Audenried's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shayla Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Smith hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Senaya Parker, who scored 14 points along with five assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Sayre had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 62-50 victory over Constitution on Friday. Sayre's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Sayre's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mischa Ferguson-Bell, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ferguson-Bell has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brionn Veal-Coston, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Audenried has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season. As for Sayre, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Audenried have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Sayre, though, as they've only made 17.5% of their threes this season. Given Audenried's sizable advantage in that area, Sayre will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything went Audenried's way against Sayre in their previous matchup back in December of 2017 as Audenried made off with a 51-29 win. Does Audenried have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sayre turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
