Franklin Towne has won five straight games at home, while Abraham Lincoln has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Warriors will welcome the Railsplitters at 3:15 p.m. Franklin Towne is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Franklin Towne is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 9th on Saturday. They lost 11-1 to Father Judge. The loss continues a trend for the Warriors in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost four in a row.
Robert Brant was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Abraham Lincoln rose to the challenge on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Vikings as they made off with a 14-2 victory. Considering the Railsplitters have won 11 contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Joshua Hernandez-Mercedes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Felino Martinez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Victor Gutierrez was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Abraham Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Abraham Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Franklin Towne, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Franklin Towne hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Abraham Lincoln struggles in that department as they've averaged .437. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Franklin Towne's way against Abraham Lincoln in their previous meeting back in May of 2022, as Franklin Towne made off with a 15-0 victory. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Railsplitters turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
