Elida dropped their record down to 5-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. He  struck out eight batters over  five innings while giving up  three earned  (and two unearned) runs off only  one  hit. Those  eight  strikeouts gave  Draper a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box,  getting on base  in three of his five plate appearances with two  runs and one  stolen base. He has become a key player for Melrose: the team is 5-1 when he posts  at  least  two  runs, but 3-7 otherwise.
