Lincoln has gone 9-1 against Bear River recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Fighting Zebras will be taking part in a tournament against the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Lincoln sitting on seven straight victories and Bear River on six.
Lincoln saw some tournament action on Tuesday. They came out on top against Woodland by a score of 6-2.
Jackson Cook spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Dylan Knell was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Tyler Silva also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Lincoln kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Bear River won against Burbank on Monday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Bruins skirted past Cordova 9-8.
The team relied heavily on Nolan Allen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Seamus McKeown, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Bear River pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.25 runs across that stretch. As for Lincoln, their record is now 16-5.
Bear River's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. It's a different story for Bear River, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Lincoln's hitters?
Lincoln couldn't quite get it done against Bear River in their previous meeting back in March as they fell 3-0. Can the Fighting Zebras avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
