Colfax is a perfect 3-0 against Argonaut since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Colfax is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over Ben Holt College Prep Academy. The win was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Colfax got a great performance from Paolo O'Brien as he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
Colfax hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ben Holt College Prep Academy struck out seven times.
Argonaut came out on top against Linden on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Mustangs walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Lions.
Linden's batters probably weren't too happy with Jacob Teravskis, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up four walks). Teravskis has become a key player for Argonaut: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 6-13 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Argonaut saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Jones, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Jones has posted since back in February.
Argonaut's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Colfax, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14-1.
Colfax's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Argonaut, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Colfax continue to outrun the ball?
Colfax skirted past Argonaut 5-4 in their previous matchup back in May of 2019. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
