Baseball Recap: Morro Bay Triumphs

While Morro Bay didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 6-3 win over the Fresno Christian Eagles on Saturday. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Morro Bay got a great performance from Hunter Stow as he tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Morro Bay saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cruz Wilkinson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Evan Davis was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Morro Bay hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Morro Bay's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Fresno Christian, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Morro Bay will square off against Santa Maria at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Santa Maria will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Morro Bay surely won't give up without a fight. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Fresno Christian is facing Firebaugh at the right time seeing as Firebaugh is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
