The Bishop Montgomery Knights will head out on the road to take on the St. Paul Swordsmen at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bishop Montgomery has seven straight wins, St. Paul has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Bishop Montgomery faced St. Anthony in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bishop Montgomery was the clear victor by a 76-55 margin over St. Anthony. Bishop Montgomery has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, St. Paul was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 48-44 to La Salle. While losing is never fun, St. Paul can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while La Salle is ranked 46th).
Bishop Montgomery has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for St. Paul, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-14.
Bishop Montgomery took their victory against St. Paul in their previous meeting on January 9th by a conclusive 75-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Montgomery since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
