The Segerstrom Jaguars waltzed into Tuesday's match with three straight wins but they left with four. They really took it to Los Amigos for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-36 victory at home. Considering Segerstrom has won three matchups by more than 29 points this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Stephanie Valenciano had an outrageously good game as she scored 26 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Abby Quero was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
Aileen Nunez and Sophia Boyer certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Nunez scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals, while Boyer dropped a double-double on 10 points and 10 rebounds. Boyer scored a full 27.8% of Los Amigos' points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Segerstrom's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Los Amigos, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Segerstrom will take on Tesoro at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tesoro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 880th, while Segerstrom is ranked 149th). As for Los Amigos, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canyon will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
