The Northwestern Wildcats are on the road again on Wednesday and play against the Creek Wood Red Hawks at 8:30 p.m. on December 27th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Northwestern has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Eisenhower with a sharp 57-35 victory on Tuesday. Given Northwestern's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Eisenhower is ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northwestern found their leader in underclassman Makayla Presser-Palmer, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Presser-Palmer has scored at least 25% of Northwestern's points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Miller, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Creek Wood sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 50-47 win over Upperman on Thursday.
Northwestern's victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Creek Wood, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
