Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe is 1-9 against Sonoraville since August of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Warriors are taking a road trip to take on the Phoenix at 5:30 p.m. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Things were looking good for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 12-3 to Trion.
Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jorja Fox, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Hope Alexander, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Sonoraville came out on top against North Murray on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Phoenix never let the Mountaineers get on the board and left with a 6-0 victory. Considering the Phoenix have won 13 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sonoraville also got a great performance from Lila Mullinax as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Mullinax has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cadence Mulkey, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Annslee DeFoor was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Sonoraville pushed their record up to 21-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, their loss dropped their record down to 4-18.
Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Sonoraville in their previous meeting back in September. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
