The La Porte Slicers came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 65-50 win over Logansport. Given La Porte's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Logansport is ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
La Porte's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Griffin Ott-large led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five assists. The match was Ott-large's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malik Corley, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Logansport had strong showings from Chris anthony Delvalle, who scored 16 points, and Jacob Taylor, who scored 17 points. Delvalle continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
La Porte's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Logansport, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
La Porte and Northridge will round out the year against one another at TBD on Friday at. Northridge will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. Logansport is on the road again on Friday and play against Hanover Central at 4:00 p.m. on December 29th.
