Tyson Bobo was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
Bobo wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tanner Helfand, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Skyler Stewart, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Patrick Henry hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christian struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Scripps Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Point Loma.
Patrick Henry's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-8-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Scripps Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 6-19.
Scripps Ranch's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Patrick Henry has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Scripps Ranch, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Patrick Henry keep running through batters, or will the Falcons buck the trend?
Patrick Henry skirted past Scripps Ranch 4-2 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
