Skyview is 1-7 against Conifer since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wolverines will venture away from home to take on the Lobos at 7:00 p.m. This will be Skyview's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
Skyview gave up the first points last Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They walked away with a 24-14 win over The Academy.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Skyview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carlos Carillo, who rushed for 64 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and also threw for 78 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes. Jaizeah Polnau was Carillo's top target, picking up ten receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 73 yards on only ten carries.
Skyview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Polnau, Philippe Talkington, and Devin Ramirez picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, while Conifer put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Glenwood Springs. The Lobos really took it to the Demons for the full four quarters, racking up a 35-0 victory. The Lobos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 35 points or more this season.
Skyview better keep an eye on Charlie Ostrowski. He was instrumental in Conifer's win, throwing for 205 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 31 yards. Solomon Washer also helped out with an impressive 80 receiving yards.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Conifer proved: they limited Glenwood Springs to a paltry 1.7 yards per carry. The team can thank Miles Knuth for the heroic effort on defense: he. Conifer's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.8.
Conifer's record is now 4-1. As for Skyview, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2.
Skyview ended up a good deal behind Conifer in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 36-22. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
