Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Julius Phillips Jr and Trae Cousin Lead Farrell to Victory

There's no place like home for Farrell, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past the Mercer Mustangs 69-48 on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Steelers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Farrell was led to victory by Trae Cousin and Julius Phillips Jr. Cousin went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points, while Phillips Jr dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Phillips Jr's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Bryson Chambers was another key player, putting up ten points and eight boards.

Farrell's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-7. As for Mercer, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3.

Farrell will head out to square off against Sharon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Farrell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.5 points per game this season. As for Mercer, they will challenge Grove City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Grove City will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Mercer surely won't give up without a fight.
