For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mater Dei Catholic and Calexico meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Crusaders fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 5-4. The Crusaders haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Kaij Ordaz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Joey Castillo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Mater Dei Catholic's record now sits at 4-11. As for Calexico, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mater Dei Catholic will venture away from home to take on Sweetwater at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Calexico, they will take on Palo Verde Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Yellow Jackets will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
