Los Amigos has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Loara Saxons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Los Amigos was handed a three-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Rancho Alamitos on Wednesday. Los Amigos breezed by Rancho Alamitos at home to the tune of 57-27. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Los Amigos has posted since December 19, 2023.
Meanwhile, Loara came tearing into Wednesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 43-39 win over La Quinta. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 14 to 6 on the offensive boards, as Loara did.
Loara found their leader in underclassman Sophia Rangel, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. Angela Ngo was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Los Amigos' victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Loara, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8.
Los Amigos suffered a grim 52-31 defeat to Loara in their previous matchup two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Ngo, who scored 18 points along with eight steals and five rebounds. Now that Los Amigos knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
