Baseball Recap: Sonoma Academy Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Sonoma Academy gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against the Technology Titans as they made off with a 16-5 victory. The Coyotes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by nine runs or more this season.

Madden Pelkey was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Brodie Castaneda was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Noah Proctor was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Sonoma Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Technology only posted an OBP of .348.

Sonoma Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Technology, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sonoma Academy will challenge Credo at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Technology, they will take on Rio Lindo Adventist at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
