It's playoff time, and University City had no trouble coming through when it counted. They skirted past the Mt. Carmel Sundevils 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Centurions sure are getting used to it with their ninth in a row.
AJ Curry made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jayden Parker was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
University City pushed their record up to 23-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mt. Carmel, with the loss, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-13.
