The Center Cougars had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Sutter by a score of 42-31 on Wednesday. The win was just what Center needed coming off of a 62-8 defeat in their prior matchup.
It was another big night for Miessah Sagun, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds. Madison Shirley Boudreaux was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Sutter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Torrence Harter. Despite the final result, she scored four points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Harter is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Reet Bains, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Center's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Sutter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Center will square off against Colfax at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Colfax is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games. As for Sutter, they will head out on the road to challenge Bear River at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Bear River presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Sutter in California (Bear River is ranked 285th, while Sutter is ranked 623rd).
